On the 27th May 2015, we came together to experience the pulsing city of Seoul, South Korea, in the first travel-focused event of the project, accompanied by fresh fruits, tasty treats and the most famous dish of the country - Kimchi!

Betty, who spent 14 days in the capital, presented her extensive photo documentation of her experience, along with funny stories and interesting moments, which captivated the multi-faceted, dynamic city of Seoul. During her time in the city, Betty stayed with a friend, who she had met during her exchange year in Paris - through this and her stories of her friend and the family she spent time with, she highlighted the fact that friendship can cross any border and promoted the central idea of Graz&... - that diversity is an opportunity and something to be valued. Those who attended ranged from those simply interested in the country, to those who wanted to be reminded of their home city - a great mix of interests, and the discussions that took place after the presentation was great evidence of what can be learnt individually when we simply listen to and understand each other. We can't wait for the next travel event and the chance to live and learn through other's experiences!

The first of Renate's Screibcafé for Graz&... took place on a Thursday afternoon (21.5.15), in the cosy setting of her personal home.  It was a casual coming together of those who wished to remember, record and share their everyday stories.  With the sentiment that in everyone's life there is a story worth telling, Renate provided a comfortable environment for the appreciation of everyone's individual experiences in life, which were captured through the written word.  Accompanied by tea/coffee and cake, three generations took the time to write or draw a story to the topic of "a touching moment in life", which Renate chose for the first edition of the Schreibcafé.  Written in three different languages, the stories reflected the individual inspirations found within Renate's chosen topic. 

After collecting all the stories, they were then read aloud to the group and discussed further, sharing similar experiences with each other and what each individual has learnt from them.  Overall, a great success and we're already looking forward to the continuation of this collective memory sharing.

One of the main aims of the Graz&... project is to create an open and extensive community, where people of all ages, genders, social and cultural backgrounds can come together and collectively influence daily life in our city of Graz.  In support of this, the project will host a Stammtisch every month, in a new location every time - this way we not only get to meet the various people who live around us and influence our lives, but we also get to explore what this city has to offer together! So, whether you come just once or to every single one, we're happy to meet you there and discuss your ideas, your life or simply anything that is on your mind that day - it's entirely up to you! 

The first Stammtisch took place on Friday, 1st May 2015 in the brand new > Culture Exchange Graz <, with familiar and new faces we spent a few hours talking, idea exchanging and simply enjoying the company of those around us.  The smiles created from simply sitting and listening to others stayed with us for days, and we're impatiently waiting for the next one - It will take place in > Die Scherbe < on 4th June from 7pm onwards. We hope to see you there!
